Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Implicit Academics ("we", "us") is an online study platform for SACE and ACARA Maths and Science, operated from Adelaide, South Australia. We are the entity responsible for the personal information handled through implicitacademics.com and the learning app. This policy is written to align with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

2. What we collect

We collect only what we need to run your account:

• Account details: your name (or preferred name), email address, and the year level and subjects you choose.
• Learning activity: your progress, practice answers, streaks, review deck, and certificates, so your learning saves and follows you across devices.
• Payment details: handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number, we only receive confirmation of what you bought and a customer reference.
• Support messages: anything you send us via the contact form or email.
• Basic technical data: your browser type and general device information, used only to keep the service working and secure.

We do not collect more than this, and we do not run advertising trackers on you.

3. How we use it

• To create and run your account and save your learning progress.
• To process your subscription and unlock the subjects you've bought.
• To respond to your questions and fix content you report.
• To keep the service secure and working properly.
• To send essential service emails (for example a receipt or an account notice). We won't send marketing email unless you ask us to.

4. Students under 18

Many of our students are under 18. We take this seriously.

• If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should create and manage the account, and they are responsible for any payment.
• By setting up an account for a student, a parent or guardian consents to us handling that student's information as described here.
• We collect the same minimal information for students as for anyone else, and we never sell it or use it for advertising.
• A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete their child's information by emailing admin@implicitacademics.com.

5. Who we share with

We never sell your personal information. We share it only with the trusted services that make the platform work:

• Stripe, payment processing (their privacy terms apply to card data).
• Supabase, secure database that stores your account and progress.
• Netlify, hosts the website and app.
• Google (Gemini) and Anthropic (Claude), power the optional AI tutor. When you use it, your typed questions and the on-screen study context are sent to be answered; don't put personal details in the chat.

We may also disclose information if required by law. Some of these providers process data outside Australia; we only use reputable providers with strong security.

6. Storage & security

Your data is stored in secured, access-controlled databases. Each student's records are protected so that one account cannot read another's. Payment card data never touches our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and will notify you and the relevant authorities of any serious data breach as required by law.

7. Your rights

You can ask us to:

• See the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct anything that's wrong.
• Delete your account and data.
• Export your data.

Email admin@implicitacademics.com and we'll action it, usually within a few days. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

8. How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal learning data promptly, except limited records we're required to keep for tax and legal reasons (for example proof of a transaction).

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, let account holders know by email.
